Good news. I don't understand though, not too many years ago when we faced a 19" size scientific data indicated it could take decades of strict and harsh size limits to restore the stock. Funny how this sort of thing is overlooked when we get thrown a bone.

As I kinda remember, the regulators missed the 2010 MS deadline and added three years to finish the 'rebuilding process'....a year or two back, its was decided the stocks were rebuilt and they began loosening the regs...

    Re: Flounder limit

Had a friend comment it was too short, so my response was throw them back if they don't make 17", it's that simple. As for me, I can get some nice fillets off one 16", just take ones time and get as close to the bone as you can. Heck when I lived in North Carolina you had a limit a couple of inches less and even though the fillets were smaller they weren't that bad. I'm hoping (if we can get through the sand bars, ha, ha) I can get out more and target them again.

I fully expect all of you local seasoned salts to throw those 16"-18" small flounder back so I can finally eat some fresh fillets every other weekend!

The Jersey boys on two sites that I peak at are crying a river. Their getting screwed by everyone, or they're going to keep what they want to. Well they sure didn't speak up for Del. when they could keep 8 then 5 and we were at 4. Del. anglers may get hammered down the road who knows? But for now sorry about your luck NJ.

    Re: Flounder limit

While reading this article I had mixed emotions of whether to laugh til my sides hurt or scream in anger about the ignorance and arogance of this guy Fote.

Gotta say though that this is my favorite part.

“Delaware threw New Jersey under the bus. They voted in favor of regionalization,” Fote said.

He complained about the size differential the De Bay will have===== it never bothered them before?

NJ already gets 39.1 % of the coastal rec allotment
and he had the naddds to try to steal additional fish from the southern states like last year. This after they overfished again last year.
Memory tells me De has about 4% of the allotment.Help if that is wrong

    Re: Flounder limit

    • Nj options 2014
    • Option 1: 4 fish @18" from May 1 to Sept 30
    • Option 2: 4 fish @18" from May 15 to Oct 15
    • Option 3: 5 fish @17.5" for 94 days
    • Option 4: 5 fish @18" for 120 days
    • Option 5: 5 fish @18.5" for 184 days
I was reading thru some other forums and actually saw more empathy for De`s past regs than I would expect from"the other side"
Then others feel they now have the short end of the stick.Give me a break. Some De guy "Troutsmack" was expressing himself.
