Very true, I was in Maine once and was asked if I was from Alabama.
I didn't think I even had an accent. All relative I guess.
I was looking for a humorous angle and thought the "southern accent" was a good gag.![]()
Dave, I can relate. In 1985 I moved to New Hampshire to teach. When I gave my very first lecture to my students they exclaimed listen to how this guy talks. They went out in student commons and brought in their friends. I don't think they heard a word I said but they sure enjoyed the way I said it.
I love that one. Now I know how to tell them apart too.

True story,coupla yrs ago in Oregon state,I sat down in a bar and ordered a beer & burger=thats all I said.
The beerkeeper smiled and said "your from Philadelphia right"=I said is it that appearent.
Turns out he had spent time over here.
